Craig Whyte’s takeover of Rangers Football Club is being stalled with some board members looking to delay any deal until the end of the current season.
Whyte, who would install his own board once he has purchased the club from David Murray, is looking to conclude a deal according to a source who spoke to BBC Scotland.
"Mr Whyte is in a position to complete the deal right now. Everything is set to go, but some members of the independent committee for some reason want to delay completion until after the end of the season," the source said.
Whyte’s offer has been the subject of an independent committee to examine any potential buyer which includes current chairman Alistair Johnston, who has said he will step down once the takeover is complete.
