Molesey Football Club chairman Tracy Teague has said the club's future is at risk if plans for a housing development scheme do not go ahead.
The Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League are hoping to clear their debts by allowing Elmbridge Housing Trust to build on land behind the club’s stadium but the plans have faced criticism from residents and a local councillor.
Teague said: "We don’t know anyway out other than by doing this. I want people to know this was not an easy decision for us to make, but we could be closed down any day and ultimately have to sell off all the land.
"There is nobody with a pot of gold to help us and I am doing everything to sort these matters out. There is no way we can service a loan as we are not making that kind of money, so we’re down to land stripping."
"This is a community-focused club and we want to be here for another 100 years."
The club was forced into debt fighting off a challenge from a former chairman as well as another part.
