Marine Football Club has been granted planning approval from Sefton Council for a new 130 seater stand and floodlighting system at its Arriva Stadium.
The Evo Stik League Premier Division will carry out the work during the summer of 2012 providing it can raise the funds, with the covered seating area to be built at the Crosender Road as well as a snacks kiosk.
Marine chairman Paul Leary said: "This really is great news for Marine. We have worked very hard on the designs to ensure compliance with legislation and to provide improvements especially with regard to privacy for the residents in Crosender Road closest to our stadium and to achieving a reduction of light overspill to adjoining properties.
"We are shortly to issue tenders to potential contractors and the next stage after that will be to apply for grant funding towards the project. These are really exciting times for Marine Football Club and this news comes as a massive boost as we continue with our aim for a promotion play-off place."
The club is now in the process of raising £100,000 towards the refurbishments.
