Blackpool Football Club chairman Karl Oyston has said there are plans to expand the capacity at Bloomfield Road with an additional 500 seats even if they are relegated from the Barclays Premier League.
The renovation would take place in the south east corner of the stadium and take the capacity of the ground to over 16,500.
"We've had preliminary discussions with planners about the south-east corner. I don't want to say too much until we put the planning application in but hopefully we'll be able to fill that corner in," Oyston said to the Blackpool Gazette.
"It will look the same as the other corners and give us a net 500 gain in capacity. We'll do it regardless of what happens this season."
The Tangerines have already carried out work this season, building a 5,120-capacity temporary East Stand, installing additional hospitality boxes as well as fitting at new video screen.
