Clayton Park Bakery ahead of the national trend as pie sales rise dramatically

Sales of pies baked by football ground supplier Clayton Park Bakery have increased dramatically with an overall growth rate of 33% since 2008.

Barry Thomas, managing director at Clayton Park, said: “We are delighted that our pie sales are so far in front of the national increase of 5% published in the recent Mintel market research report.  I’m sure our success has a lot to do with our commitment to producing top quality pies, working with our clients to create new and unusual fillings and using locally sourced ingredients.”

Mintel report that the nation’s favourite is the beef filled pie with the sausage roll a close second and the Cornish pasty in 3rd place.

Barry adds: “We launched a Cornish pasty 12 months ago and it has been very popular with sales increasing steadily. “
