Liverpool and United deals help Premier League top sponsorship table

align=justify>Manchester United and Liverpool have helped the Premier League overtake the German Bundesliga to become the leader in shirt sponsorship revenue within Europe’s top six leagues.

Both club pulled in deals worth €23.6m, United with financial service providers AON and Liverpool with the Standard Chartered Bank, which helped bring shirt sponsorship spending in the Premier League to an all-time high of €128m.

The figures in SPORT+MARKT’s European Football Jersey Report also revealed an increase of €44.5m (53.3%) in the Premier League.

The recovery of the pound was credited with playing a small role in the Premier League’s increased deals, although new and improving deals were ultimately decisive, despite the current economic climate.

Despite falling to second, the Bundesliga increased it generated income by €9.9m and makes more on average per club than the Premier League, its €6.6m trumping the England’s top flight by €0.2m.
