Wigan Athletic has confirmed that their chief executive Brenda Spencer will be retiring at the end of July after twenty-four years with the club.
Commenting on her decision Mrs Spencer said: "Wigan Athletic has been my life for the past 24 years and it has been an incredible journey. To think that we are in the Premier League for a 6th season is another testament to all that has been achieved here and it's going to be very strange not being involved on a day to day basis any more."
''But of course, I will be watching avidly and cheering on the team from the sidelines,'' she added.
In her time at the club Brenda has worked with three different chairmen, eleven managers and overseen the transfers of many of the club's biggest stars. She is expected to make a full statement before she officially retires this summer.
