Rangers open to takeover offers

Rangers have ended speculation by confirming they are willing to listen to takeover bids with three candidates being linked with the Old Firm club.

Owner Sir David Murray is considering selling the club with debts of over £30m and with the management team of Walter Smith and Ally McCoist working without contracts.

London-based property developer Andrew Ellis, a former director at English Championship side Queen’s Park Rangers, is understood to be fronting a list of three candidates.

An independent committee of directors has been formed to assess any possible offer.
