Newry fans ‘nothing to worry about’

The directors of Irish football club Newry City have spoken out to reassure fans that there is ‘nothing to worry about’ following reports of financial trouble at the club.

A winding up order relating to an overdue tax bill had been served on the club, but this was formally dismissed at Belfast’s High Court on Thursday.

An official statement on the Newry City website added that the directors “do not foresee any financial problems in the near future.”
