Ryman League side Croydon Athletic Football Club will be welcoming Fodboldsekskabet A/S as joint owners of the club from 1st January 2011.
Fodboldsekskabet A/S consists of over 400 Danish football fans with a dream of running a British football club. The group is made up of professional people with a wealth of commercial skills that will benefit the club. They have formulated a five year business plan for the Rams designed to increase revenue through marketing and sponsorship.
The company has been looking at seven teams in England but decided to plump for Croydon after being impressed be a visit to the KT stadium and feeling they could ‘make a difference’.
Current owner Mazhar Majeed, who continues to own 49% of the club, had made the group completely aware of the financial troubles at Croydon.
The deal has made front page headlines in Denmark as Croydon Athletic become the only English club owned by the Danes.
