After making a special effort to get their new away shirt to supporters in good time, Blackburn Rovers have come up against an unexpected delivery problem; Volcanic Ash.
The consignment of shirts was due to be flown in from Beijing for the kit’s launch on Thursday 29th April. However the disruption of all air travel to the UK, caused by the Icelandic volcano eruption, has delayed their arrival.
Head of Commercial and Marketing Simon Williams said: “We took the decision to fly in the kit this year to avoid delivery delays which have caused problems in the past- and then this happens!”
“The best laid plans, however, do not include legislating for a volcano erupting. We accept that this is all very frustrating on two counts, we trust that our supporters will understand that is completely out of our control”
As airports have now reopened Rovers are hopeful that the issue will be resolved quickly and that the red and black away kit will be available to purchase in time for their last Premier League fixture at Aston Villa on Sunday 8th May.
