Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has secured a lucrative deal to advertise Austrian energy drink Power Horse.
The advertising campaign will centre on the FIFA World Cup which is to be held in South Africa this summer.
"Football is the number one sport around the world," said a statement from Power Horse who claimed they were just one of many companies trying to negotiate a deal with the striker "It cannot have been the money alone that made Adebayor choose us. Probably it was the taste which won him over”
Adebayor secured the contract at the end of March shortly before announcing his decision to quit international soccer. A decision which is thought to have been triggered by the tragic Angolan separatists attack on his national team of Togo during the build up to the African Cup of Nations.
