Kick4change launch 'Design a Boot' Competition

Kick4change, the award winning social enterprise behind the world’s first ever social enterprise football boots, has teamed up with the North Riding FA to launch a ‘Design a Boot’ competition as part of kick4change’s ‘Pledge My Seat’ campaign.

The concept is designed to encourage grass roots junior football clubs to pledge their commitment to a great cause by simply designing a football boot with the World Cup in mind. It also allows clubs to fundraise for their own benefit in a fun and topical way. The winning design will be chosen and the entrant will win new 4sport football boots for his entire team.

Alan Geddes, PR and Marketing Officer said: “PledgeMySeat is an innovative initiative that has the duel benefit of helping deserving children in South Africa receive their first pair of football boots, but also acts as a great fundraising vehicle for local UK junior clubs.

''I’m sure children will have great fun in designing the boots and participating in a variety of sponsored activities. We look forward to receiving the entries and judging the winner. I’d encourage all clubs to participate in this great opportunity''

The campaign aims to send over tens of thousands of new football boots to children across Africa and is backed personally by Aaron Mokoena,

The South African captain said:''The design a boot competition is a great concept that all children and schools can get involved with, by simply getting their creative juices flowing, learning about other cultures and having some fun.  I’m particularly passionate about supporting this initiative as it aligns itself with the goals I’ve set for my charitable foundation; to develop grassroots initiatives here in the UK, while helping other children who are less fortunate and help provide them with a future''

Key partnerships have already been formed with the South African Sports Trust to donate football boots to townships in Johannesburg, and Kick4Life, to help tackle HIV through the provision of sports-based health education, voluntary testing, life-skills development and support into education and employment.
