Carson Yeung has been approved by the Premier League and has passed the standard ‘fit and proper persons’ test as he draws nearer to a takeover of Birmingham City.
Yeung is widely expected to launch a formal bid to takeover the club in mid-October afte a drawn out affair for the Midlands outfit.
With Premier League approval, Yeung is able to meet with manager Alex McLeish for negotiations. The billionaire currently holds the highest stake in the club and his company, Grandtop International, is expected to increase its stake in the club.
David Sullivan, co-owner, should remain Birmingham’s chairman, however he and co-owner the Gold brothers plan to sell their collective 50 per cent share.
