Zamaretto League club Paulton Rovers are set to cash in on over £70,000 when their FA Cup first round tie against Norwich is broadcast on ITV.
The Zamaretto League club reached the competition proper for the first time with a 3-0 win over Chippenham in the fourth round of qualifying yesterday, and were rewarded with a clash against the Canaries.
Rovers' hope to stage the tie with the Coca-Cola League one side at their Winterfield Road stadium, which could have a capacity of around 4,000, and will be screened live on Saturday, November 7, with a 12:45 kick-off.
The English FA will also air the FA Cup for the first time live online next month. The online broadcast will be free of charge on the FA website.
The FA has been unable to negotiate a final deal to date and does not expect to replace Setanta before the event. Talks with major broadcasters Sky, the BBC or ESPN are in progress and will continue. There is no word on how much each broadcaster is willing to pay.
The plan to air the FA Cup online follows a successful online screening of the England World Cup against Ukraine earlier in October, which attracted about a half-million viewers.
