Former West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson could be set to make a sensational return to the club in a rescue effort to aid the club’s financial woes.
According to the Telegraph, chairman Andrew Bernhardt has already been contacted regarding Magnusson’s interest. Magnusson is willing to step in and assist, however is not willing to pay the £100 million asking price for the club.
Many fans blame Magnusson for the clubs’ monetary difficulties, but he believes former owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, is to blame due to hid personal loss related to the collapse in the Icelandic market.
CB Holdings now controls the club and is looking to settle the club’s debt with a sale. Individuals from Asia and the US have also come forward recently with an interest in the club.
