Lindley Group, the UK’s largest specialist sports stadia caterer, is strengthening its senior management team with the appointment of Jane Donachy to the newly created position of Director of Hospitality.
At the same time, the company has announced that Ian Daly, who took up the role as Chairman of Lindley Group Holdings in 2005, will be taking a more proactive role in shaping and driving the company’s strategy as it seeks to increase its footprint in the hospitality business.
These new moves signal a major step change in the strategic development of the Lindley Group which has been steadily expanding its presence in the fine dining, hospitality and banqueting sectors - Heathcotes Outside joined the group in 2006 and last year Lindley entered into a partnership agreement with Green’s of St James’s, which is renowned for its top quality seafood and quintessentially English cuisine.
Donachy will report to Lindley Group Chief Executive, Alex McCrindle – one of the founding members of the Lindley Catering management buy-in team - who will be devoting more time to working with Ian Daly on the future development of the business.
Alex says: “Our vision in 2001 when we bought into the business was quite simple – we wanted to become the leading sports and leisure venue foodservice company in the UK. Eight years later we have achieved that - we’ve almost tripled the turnover of the business, quadrupled operating profit, we provide catering services in 62 venues and we are now firmly established as the UK’s leading specialist in sports stadia catering.
“We’ve also expanded into other areas such as horse racing, arts and leisure venues and last year were awarded the £20 million ACC Liverpool contract. Now that we have reached our original goals and have already started expanding into other areas, we are relishing the challenge of how we take the business forward over the next decade. We see 2010 as being a pivotal year in the evolution of the Lindley Group.”
Alex concludes: Having worked with Ian for the past four years and benefited from his 30 years’ experience in foodservice marketing, and operations, it is great that he can now devote more time and take on a more ‘hands on’ strategic role. Together with the appointment of Jane with her wealth of experience and creative flair this will open up a number of new opportunities for us.”
