In conjunction with McDonald’s Restaurants BELPER TOWN Football Club has organised a Football Open Day at Christchurch Meadow on Sunday 2nd August 2009 (10am - 4pm). This will be great family day out.
Through this free event, they aim to encourage children of all ages to become interested in football and more importantly enjoy themselves and keep fit at the same time
On the day they will have a special guest of honour, 1966 World Cup hat trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst, former Manchester United youth coach Eric Harrison and we will also have the FA Community Shield on display so that kids (and adults) can have their photograph taken with the trophy.
Sir Geoff will be conducting a Q and A session, signing autographs whilst Eric Harrison will provide coaching classes for children alongside coaches from Belper Town FC.
There will be a range of football skills events, a 'come and try' area, a variety of inflatable skills shelters. a five-a-side football arena, face painting, and of course the chance to meet a real World Cup hero. There is bound to be something of interest for all the family.
During the afternoon, Belper Town FC will also be presented with their FA Charter Community Club award and the club are hoping that as many Belper Town FC players from all sections of the club (seniors, reserves, ladies, youth and junior teams) will appear as the backdrop to a commemorative photograph when the club is presented with the plaque and certificate.
There will also be a free raffle to win FA Community Shield match tickets for the game between Manchester United and Chelsea which takes place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 9th August. Other raffle prizes donated by Belper Town FC will also be on offer in the raffle.
This will be a truly superb event at which adults and children alike will enjoy a day to remember.
