In a new take on the ‘charity Christmas card’ theme we have come up with an innovative fund raiser to help disabled footballers.
As Commercial Director, John Booth explains:
‘We wanted to support a football charity at Christmas and Mencap seemed such a deserving cause to us as they run disabled football schemes across the country. Because of the way sport is funded in England and the UK, Mencap Sport receives no government or sports lottery funding to support its activities. They rely totally on fund raising and we felt we could help.
As we send out over 15,000 e newsletters every week, it seemed a natural idea to send an e-Christmas card. We can use the money saved on postage, and for every e-card opened we will donate 10p to Mencap. I think as an idea other companies may follow suit.
Every year, Mencap Sport also funds a National 11-a-side Football Team that takes part in a renowned international tournament in Geneva. Monies raised by the e-card will contribute to that worthwhile event. The Geneva tournament sees teams from across Europe compete and it gives footballers with learning disability a unique experience. It enables people with learning disability to travel abroad, in many cases, for the first time.
If you missed the card, it's not too late to help. Simply click this link and we will donate another 10p to this great cause.
